DAV Chapter 48 mission

Mirroring our national Disabled American Veterans (DAV)
mission statement, our local DAV chapter is dedicated to a
single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality
lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by
ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full
range of benefits earned through their military service;
fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on
Capitol Hill; and striving to ensure Disabled American
Veterans are recognized by all for their contributions to our
Nationals Mission Statement
A Legacy of Service, Hope for the Future

DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support
for veterans of all generations and their families,
helping more than 1 million veterans in positive, life-
changing ways each year.

The organization provides more than 700,000 rides for
veterans attending medical appointments and assists
veterans with more than 300,000 benefit claims annually.
Locally, from the local clinic the van service has transported
over 4,000 +- to Gainesville or the Villages.

In 2016 - 2017, DAV helped attain more than $4 billion in new
and retroactive benefits to care for veterans, their families
and survivors.

No stats for Citrus, since there are no returns on claims filled
at the Chapter level.

DAV is also a leader in connecting veterans with meaningful
employment, hosting job fairs and providing resources to
ensure they have the opportunity to participate in the
American Dream their sacrifices have made possible.

With more than 1,300 chapters and 1.3 million members
across the country, Citrus has two DAV Chapters - Chapter 70
in Inverness, Chapter 158 in Crystal River.

DAV empowers our nation's heroes and their families by
helping to provide the resources they need and ensuring our
nation keeps the promises made to them.
